this can be done that way too
but I assumed that if Jacek wrote it that way (with a union instead of a unique structure), it was for that intent (I may be wrong)
at the end, this makes 32KB of overallocation (+ file size) and 8 dirty pages instead of 1
not the end of the world, but still
