In a discussion with Duane Clark (18th - 19th June) in the
comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine news group, I offered to provide some
amendments to the Wine User Guide. These are to make it consistent with
the new 'dosdevices' directory system for setting disc drive and
serial/parallel port mappings, and to remove the obsolete entries in the
config file.

Please find attached some suggested changes to the
document configuring.sgml.

Please note that:

1. I am not familiar with
the internal workings of Wine, so these amendments should perhaps be
checked for technical accuracy.

2. I have used British English
spellings etc, because I am not familiar enough with US English to be
able to write it reliably - please feel free to 'translate' if
desired.

3. I have looked only at the issues concerning drive and
device mappings - the former [Drive x], [serialports] and
[parallelports] sections. There appear to be a number of other
discrepancies between the wine.conf man page, the Wine Users Manual
section 5.4.3 and the sample configuration file
documentation/samples/config, as shown in the table below:

Note also that section 5.5.7, 4th
bullet point, contains a reference to [DllPairs] which no longer
exists.

I hope the above suggestions are useful.
