msi: let caller set property in AppSearch

Moving this around will let me reuse some of the appsearch code to implement some of the unimplemented search types (so stay tuned for further patches after this one, assuming this get accepted.)

ChangeLog:
- use value rather than boolean as success indicator in AppSearch action
- let caller property after a successful search
