Great that you found a patch, but how do I apply it? A lot of confusing  
information around so I try this short cut.

P.S. Perhaps in your copious spare time you could have a look at the  
following: SeaClear has a MapCal companion program in order to calibrate  
charts. This program also offers the possibility of transforming *.BMP  
files into its own *.WCI files. The latter are significantly smaller (e.g.  
a 75 MB BMP becomes a 1.5 MB WCI one). With wine however this is not  
possible as the colours are destroyed. If you want I can send you an  
example.
