Problems Installing Windows Software

I am using Slackware 9.0. I couldn't get Wine to install from the 
20030408 source so I installed a Slackware package of it. I tried 
installing dcom98, ie explorer 5.0, and Work Suite 2001. None of them 
installs, dcom installer says that an newer version is already installed 
and to remove it first. This is impossible since it isn't installed. 
Works Suite installation causes a seg fault. Ie5setup just hangs.
