Newbie...WINE setup?

Well, what you most likely were doing was downloading rpm's from the
cooker - which is the development version of the next mandrake distro. That
wouldn't be a problem, except that they always update core system files,
like glibc (incredibly crucial). The bummer is that upgrading glibc is so
dangerous few people are ever willing to try it. It would be like compiling
your own Windows 9x and installing it by hand...

So, the point is to get some good starter linux docs, read about tar.gz's,
then download the wine source and compile it by yourself.
