Here:

XFree86-4.1.0-3 (from rpm -q)
kdebase-2.2.10

How does one begin chasing this problem down?  I cvs'ed wine from
winehq.com, and I found where the error message is coming out.  I can
trace back through the procedure calls, but I don't know *how* it's
supposed to work with the X system.

Maybe I should take this to the wine-devel list?
