running office 2000 under wine without windows

Everyone:

I downloaded and installed wine-20011108 from source. I am running
slackware 8.0 with kernel 2.4.5.

I tried installing office 2000 from the CD and captured the resulting
error messages. Basically,
the setup.exe is complaining about the lack of a "windows installer."
Does anyone know any way around this? I recall some trick involving
internet explorer being discussed the last time I tried this (over a
year ago).

I used the script command to capture the output of the wine command I
used. I have attached that output along with
my config file. The config file is the default one from wine-20011108
with the [Drive X] sections altered and nothing
else. I followed the instructions in the user's manual in the section
"Installing Wine Without Windows." BTW,
*great* job on the html docs, guys. They are VERY helpful, well
written and organized. Beautiful job.

I also got a dialog box from setup.exe with the following message in
it (I typed it into the post by hand):

"Installing this product required the Windows Installer. An error
occurred when installing or upgrading the Windows installer."

Here's the output of the wine command:
