Strange messages after upgrading kernel (bug #650)

Hi,

Today I did an upgrade of my kernel (2.4.9-31) to
2.4.18-3 and Xfree to 4.2.0.
A bunch of message related to processor and memory
allocation problems hit me when I
run telnet (WinMe's telnet also).
The final stack overflow that causes debugger
execution was here before the upgrade.

I created an attachement in Bugzilla.
