wine for *BSD

Hi,

it's been a while know that I surf the web to find wine tutorial and tips.
all refers to running wine under linux (various distrib).

I personnaly use FreeBSD and wondered if all the web infos were generic ?
I just can't get anything running with wine/FreeBSD (installing the 'release' wine version).
I once tried slackware/crossover office which worked like a charm.

So, is wine specifically coded for linux ?
Or are there any BSD users here using things like Office2K, Notes, ... on their BSD ?
