WINE error: need help

Hi!  I'm new to Wine and am having troubles getting it working.  I
downloaded and installed the Wine rpm (for RH9) from source-forge.  In the
winehq.com 'howto' it mentions a simple test is to run 'notepad'.  When I
do this (or any other Win32 .exe's that were installed) I get the
following error:

[richard at localhost richard]$ notepad
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 000b), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 000d), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 000f), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0011), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0013), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0015), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0017), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0019), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 001b), starting debugger...
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 001d), starting debugger...

 and the error keeps listing.  Any ideas or have seen this problem?
