[Wine]installing Microsoft Office under wine

I have been unable to install  Microsoft Office 2000 under wine on 
several  Fedora Linux machines.  The problem seemed to start with the 
June 2004 release of wine and has persisted for every version I have 
tried up to and including the latest  12/01/2004 version.

I have tried both RPM install and compiling from source with similar 
results.

I have one machine running the May 2004 wine that has Fedora release 1 
installed
that has  MS Word , Excel , and power point running well.

However,  when I updated my work machine to Fedora 2 last May Wine failed to
install the MS Office CD.  I am now running Fedora 3 and the  problem has
continued with each version of Wine up to the latest.

I  do not think the problem is necessarily related  to the kernel 
version since , the
Fedora 1 computer that runs Word has been updated to use the latest  
2.6.9 kernel and
a recent version of the KDE desktop.
The 12/1/2004 version of wine was compiled from a tar down load using  
gcc 3.4.3-3

The following error messages were displayed when I attempted to install  
The MS OFFIce  Cd
on a fully updated Fedora 3 computer running  the 2.6.9-1.681_FC3smp kernel.
