[Wine]Wine 20041019 - Error Installing XviD (log + errors included)

installing XviD 1.0.2

C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\XviD\Nic's MiniCalc.lnk"

error: CoCreateInstance failed, code 0x80040154

This error happens with every link the installer program tries to create.
After these set of error messages are done the following happens:

"Registering files..."

error:

"c:\Windows\System\xvid.ax

Unable to register the DLL/OCX: DIRegister Server failed; code 0x80040154.

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to procedd anyway (not recommended), or
Abort to cancel installation."

I clicked on Ignore after Retry just kept repeating this message.
So far that seems to have completely hung the installation process.

to set the screen resolution and remove the "Resolution" entry in the
