[Wine]winver -- how can I confirm enabled

When trying to install a windows program under Wine in 9.3 Suse 
( Rhapsody.EXE ), wine reports:

" MessageType = 2, MessageID = 3060 : Param = 100fixme:vxd:VXD_Open 
Unknown/unsupported VxD L"mcstrm.vxd". Try setting Windows version to 'nt40' 
or 'win31'."

I went into ~/.wine/config and changed first to 'nt40' and then to 'win31' but 
it still printed the same error message.  How can I confirm at the line 
command, what "winver" I am running in wine?
