Just out of curiosity, L. -- do you have an ATI card? DGA specifically 
seems not to work (again) with the ATI drivers (don't have an nVidia 
card, so I don't know if DGA works there, but I'd like to confirm this 
as an ATI problem so we can include it in the FAQ or Wiki or whatever)

I'm almost sure there was a brief period where it did work (3.14.1 
drivers, I believe), and I was able to set DGA=Y in my wine config, but 
those days seem to have passed, since my last Wine install (under the 
3.14.6 and now the 8.8.25 drivers) exhibited the exact same behaviour if 
I tried to run anything other than Notepad, until I turned DGA off again.
