YES! That's it. I took the one from SuSE 10.0, rebuilt and enjoyed.
That explains why the text in winecfg, compiled (a few hours ago)  from 
the source for SuSE 9.0 is
fixed. I had no fontforge installed.
Thanks very much. It would take me loooooooooong time to solve this issue.
