I can't really help you, but:
Imho a real mixed 32/64bit environment just don't work nicely atm on gentoo. At least not when
it comes to compiling 32bit packages and handling the 32bit dependencies.
I can only suggest to setup a 32bit chroot, it saves you a lot of hassle :/
