[Wine] 3ds max on Wine crashes...any ideas?

Hello all,

I am trying to run 3ds max 7.0 on Wine.  I have been able to install it
through forcing the DirectX version that Wine reports to 9.0C and
working around the EULA bug, but when I try to launch the application I
just get the splash screen and it dies with:

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this crash and
