If you have a real Windows installed somewhere, try copying files from c:\windows\fonts to either 
Wine's faked c:\windows\fonts (thus ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts), or to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF.

The latter worked for me, many versions ago...
