[Wine] Getting old versions of wine?

Could you try:
$ mv .wine .wine.works
$ mv .wine.bak .wine
$ wineprefixcreate

To see if it will fix your old wine install? We're trying to find any
bugs with wineprefixcreate, and this would help.
