I have this solved such that the Braille2000 software is running under WINE. I set this to emulate WinXP which I think solved the page fault at program start and installed the winhttp.dll file to windows/system32 directory. This has the software running on Ubuntu 804 system and the RC version of WINE available a couple days before the 1.0 release.
