I have found the cause of this problem and I am working on a solution. It looks like the Wine version of the "Windows installer" writes entries in the registry which cause all of Office 2000 to fail.

I will post detailed instructions in the topic http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=260 which has the title Wine 0.9.57 - Cannot Install/Use Office 2000 Premium when I'm happy with the fix.
