Hello,

try ripping the CD with

Code:
cat /dev/cdrom1 > /tmp/image_name.iso



then try mounting (as root) with 

Code:
mount /tmp/image_name.iso /mnt/hd -o loop



of course you can change /mnt/hd to whatever directory suits you
