[Wine] Errors using WINE with certain programs

So far I have tried using 4 programs with WINE so far and I have not been able to get any of them to work right. An Emulator program kept blinking, a small desktop application called "catwalk" also was blinking. It took me a while to get those programs closed because of the blinking.

I also tried installing the Windows Version of TrueCrypt. It had an error on install. Files were installed, but nothing was written to the registry.

And just now I tried installing a program called "Resurrection Matchmaker" from mm.wildman-production.org and it installs ok, but when it runs I get:

I'm not sure what I need to do to get that one to work if it is even possible.

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit updated. And I installed WINE from Synaptic Package Manager.
