If you want to know which of the two (Intel vs. ATI) sucks more, I'd like to remind you of a joke:

Two bald men were arguing over their baldness:
"I think you're way more bald than I am."
"How can you say such nonsense, when neither of us has a single hair on our heads!"
"That may be true, but you have a much larger head."

That said, ATI sucks more - it has way more stuff in their chips, but that just means - more stuff that doesn't work. Unlike AMD, Intel at least takes their Linux (and other *nix) support seriously.
