[Wine] Half life 2 ep 1 working so much slower on wine than windows

I have installed half life 2 ep 1 from the orange box dvd on my ubuntu 9.10 but its working so much slower than on windows xp.
I am using wine version 1.1.31 from the ubuntu repos.
Is there any tweaks that I have to make to let the game work faster like on windows ?

here is my computer specification:
cpu : 3 GHZ core2due
Ram: 2 GB
VGA: Nvidia 6200 LE
