Developers are always needed, there's a ton of code to write. Start
here: http://wiki.winehq.org/Developers. Source is available here:
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git. Pick a bug you want to fix
here: http://bugs.winehq.org/ and have fun. (Hint: pick a bug with
keyword 'patch' to find an easy starting point).
