What desktop environment do you use? Both KDE and Gnome have nice
rdesktop-based graphical terminal clients (Krdc in KDE) which can connect to
RDP servers just fine. I use Krdc every day at home and at work connection
to a bunch of Windows XP/2003/2008 machines without a glitch. You don't need
Windows Terminal Services under Wine ever.

On the other hand, if some program worked in the past with Wine and stopped
working now, it's a regression; you could help Wine project by doing a
regression test and reporting a bug to Wine's Bugzilla at
http://bugs.winehq.org/
