I have no specific clue on the specific problem you are reporting, but I've Guild Wars running on a couple of computers through several releases of Wine.
I would recommend to install the latest Wine (1.24) but there seems to be a regression (as reported on GW appdb page) that prevents installation of GW. I would try with 1.24 and then if install fails, I would go back a few releases.
