Unconfirmed bugs can and do get fixed, and there are plenty of confirmed bugs that languish for months or even years.

I take it that bugs that have a LOT of votes usually do get fixed as quickly as possible (unless it involves something unfixable like some of the game security systems out there) (and of course keeping in account fixing one bug could be a lot of work)?
