The bleeding edge configuration will be even less stable / more crashy. I can't imagine optimal working worse though, considering you're running Jaunty it was supposed to at least make the game run faster, even if the driver isn't as stable.

Wine 1.1.31 came out today. You can always check that sort of thing by typing wine --version in a terminal. The front page of WineHQ always tells you about new releases and their major changes too.
