In descending order it should be:

- the domain name set in your network's DNS (ask your network admin)

- everything to the RIGHT of the first dot in your computer's host name:
  $ hostname
  zappa.gregorie.org
        ^^^^^^^^^^^^

- 'localdomain' if nothing else was defined.
