Don't forget that you can also use Kermit. The first few times you use
it you'll have to issue a few commands to set the port, baud rate,
parity etc, but once you know what works these can be put in a start-up
file which will be automatically read each time you start Kermit.
Kermit comes in both Windows and Unix/Linux versions and will be
available in most distros. Its a very powerful and useful tool for
sorting out serial comms problems and can also be used over a network.
Its both a terminal emulator and a file transfer utility.
