Thanks for the reply!! In that thread you provided there is a suggestion that only the first beta version of Kindle For PC works under wine. The problem was where were that beta file. One person in that thread provides http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Kindle-for-PC-Download-143957.html
which solved the problem. Says to "grab it while still available". It worked!
