Yup, you can do it.

You have three options for using Wine:
1. Compile it yourself.

That's what I do. But since you're a new Mac user, I wouldn't suggest
it. It involves a lot of command-line stuff, and I know most Mac users
don't like that. (I don't mind, but hey, I'm a programmer. Don't mind
me.) There's plenty of info on UNIX command-line basics on the Internet,
though; look around. And if you need help with Wine itself, we can help you.

2. Use a package/port manager like MacPorts or Fink.

Many Mac users of Wine go this route. But you still have to deal with
the command line, which again many Mac users don't like. It's easier,
though, than building it yourself.

3. Use WineBottler.

Many more go this route. It even has a nice GUI. But be warned:
WineBottler isn't supported here. If you want help, you'll have to ask
on WineBottler's forum.
