Thanks for the input.  I installed core fonts.  I also did get IE7 to install (not sure what I did different) However the issue is the same.  It's not just the fonts are messed up but the back ground and various graphics don't exist either.  Just garbage

Actually even the IE7 interface looks rough and has icons overlapped on words on the tool bar.

Any more ideas?
