Yes we are.  Gentoo does things to the distribution that breaks the ability to build Wine from our download package.

Well.  To start run ./configure and look at the log.  This should state that certain files are missing.  Get them, install them and then Wine should be buildable/runable.

Missing dependencies are not optional.  They are required to build Wine, they just are not installed with your distribution.
