Simple case is loop back mounting is not a cdrom emulator. Yes wine can sometime work by having device link in ~/.wine/dosdevices pointing to the iso. But for a lot of things this can fail as well. Most Linux mounts are loop backs. Not like Linux programs care if a cdrom is really there or not.
