Hi there. Thanks for your reply. I appreciate any help.

Now, I tried your suggestion and the problem still persists with wine1.3.4. (The dev branch, right?)

However, I figured something else out with the help of someone on the IRC channel. The game only crashes when you try to load a mission that uses the 688i class submarine.

I haven't tested the game's behavior with all of the vehicles available, but I tried a few and they all worked except for the 688i.

So, the game works unless you want to drive the the only submarine worth driving.

Any idea why the game would crash with only one of the vehicles? That's extremely odd to me. It's pretty depressing too, as the 688i is the only sub I want to drive.

Take note of the ^C at the beginning of the last line. I had to kill it. I don't know why I am mentioning this.
