I have now donated to altbinz and downloaded 0.31.7. This works with wine 1.2.1 on both ububtu 10.04 LTS and 10.10. (Tried it on two seperate machines) So the answer is get a more up to date version of altbinz. The latest version is 0.31.8 but that may have speed problems which is why I downloaded 0.31.7.
