[Wine] Where to install an application?

Hi,

I'm new to WINE, and excited about the possibility of using some of my favorite software.

I went to install theWord, using right-click/Open with WINE program loader. I chose One-folder Install for the program, thinking it would be better than the installer looking for folders and registries that weren't there. Is that correct?

And then it asked where to install the program, suggesting C:\program files. I chose the ./ folder structure, but then didn't know where to go. I tried to create a new folder anywhere, and it wouldn't do so.

So do I have to worry about programs dependent on registry entries and Windows folder schemes? And where should I be targeting the installation of programs?
