I'd say try default direct3d settings first if you haven't, since the AppDB entry looks like most people get it working and they never talk about changing those settings.

You can also try the dll overrides listed there, though someone said they aren't needed as of Wine 1.2.

Possibly look at in game graphics settings too... and play with them.
