There are two versions of wine for Slackware:
i486 and x86_64.

If you're running Slackware 32-bit, you need to download and install the one under i486, not the one under x86_64.

There are two directories as you can see, one for i486 and the other for x86_64. I'm guessing you downloaded the wine version in x86_64.
