I realized I was having a bunch of other issues beyond just working with Wine. Something must have gone wrong when I was installing Ubuntu. I decided to reinstall Ubuntu and everything seemed to go away. I now have wine up and running smoothly. :) Its too bad really, I would've liked to figure out what was wrong. Thanks for your concern.
