My congratulations to the developers who make the automated compile/installation scripts. While my MacBook Pro took more than 30 minutes to compile, there were no fatal flaws and wine installed just fine. That in itself is quite an achievement and I am quite amazed that a project so large & complex has gotten as far as it is.
