Are you stating that winetricks ie6 did not work or that the patcher launcher does not work?  
If it is that winetricks ie6 does not work, you might want to try winetricks ie7.  If the launcher does not work, we need a complete logging file, including the command you used to start the program.  Instructions are in the FAQ page on the Wine Wiki (http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).  If the file is large (> 20Kib or so) please post the contents to a site like pastebin.com.
