XQuartz is MUCH better than Apple's version of X11, you should really go with it.

Wine 1.2.2 is rather old..  why not try 1.3.22?

OSX 10.6.4 is missing some updates to graphics drivers that helps a lot, you should really run Software Update and get everything up through 10.6.7 ... and even 10.6.8 is in testing and out soon.
