I'm not particularly looking for help just at the moment. I'm only posting about what progress I've made so far getting 3D programmes to work or not.

Here's an update: Carrara 7.2 now works completely, that is to say even the rendering bit of it. I'm not sure what the problem was but it came right after "switching it off and on again" as they say. After the machine was rebooted Carrara works perfectly. As to Bryce 7.2, I copy/pasted a couple of dlls (dzwrapper.dll and msvcp60.dll) into the Bryce folder and Bryce was then able to start - but crashed because of a memory read/write problem. Error message about trying to write to memory address "unknown" or something.

I'll post more news when there is any. I've just obtained a whole new suite of 3D software from Autodesk, including 3DS Max and Maya. After I get these installed in Windows I'll have a go at getting them to run in Wine too.
