OP, if you already have Windows, don't get rid of it, just avoid it when you can.

First try to get it to work in Wine, and if it doesn't work after trying various things, resort to Windows. Each new Wine version, try again. If you have Windows, then you can do dll overrides.

Also, if you want to help Wine out in getting a game to work, it helps if you can compare how well it worked in Windows.

But if you don't have Windows, you can be patient with Wine until it gets the game working, which can be a while. If your old computer had a Windows lisence, you might be able to use that. Or you can consider buying Windows. ReactOS isn't there yet.
