It is correct: the client crashes every 10 000 files downloaded or so. Keep launching it again and again, the client can 'pause and resume' so don't worry about the crash !

As you can see in the picture I attached here, I run the client with wine 1.4, and the login screen appears without a problem as everything works out of the box (sound, animated graphics, login forms, etc...).

The only issue is the transparency in the background of the client (launcher/patcher), but it is not important as the login screen does not suffer from this problem.
